Slowing down when you eat your meals will allow you to eat less and allow for better portion control.
Many times we still feel hungry or continue eating what’s on our plates because we eat so fast. Slowing down and even taking a few minutes or more before getting seconds will allow for your brain to catch up with what is in your stomach. In turn you will realize you are actually full or satisfied.
The feeling of being satisfied/full comes from your brain. Contrary to popular belief it is not controlled by how much your stomach is filled with substances. The feeling of satiety simply put comes from signals in your body that needs to be transmitted to your brain.
So the next time you sit down to eat take a little longer to enjoy your food or your company. A little goes a long way.
